Solar Smash Planets: Every Planet, Secret Planets and How to Unlock Them
Last updated: 8 September 2026. Sources: the Planets page and Achievements page of the Solar Smash community wiki (systems, secret planets, level unlocks) cross-checked with the in-game planet screen.
Planet Smash mode gives you planets from five systems, all built from voxels so that every one of them can be taken apart completely. Populated worlds have defences (nukes, orbital rings or a shield), a population map that decides where people die when you hit a region, and a breakdown point: once enough of the planet is gone, the remaining population drops to zero and the surface takes on a burning overlay. Cut deeper and it turns to magma. A Planet Killer beam or a supernova from the Sun triggers the final crack-and-disintegrate animation.
Below is every planet, what makes it different, and how it is unlocked. Level unlocks are cumulative; achievement unlocks are explained step by step in our achievements guide.
Sol system
Sun: not a planet, but destructible. A sustained laser makes it go supernova, which also destroys any planet on screen. Mercury: thin crust, weak core, no population. The best XP-farming target because it dies fast. Venus: like Earth with a thicker crust; no population. Home of the Cloudless Venus achievement. Earth: the reference planet, with the most realistic core layout and the largest population. Most achievements are set here. Moon (level 2): both a weapon and a target; hit it with the Moon weapon and it becomes Ceres. Mars: smaller core, no population. Terraformed Mars (level 2): a green, populated Mars with about 3 billion people and its own density map. Ceres: the dwarf planet from the asteroid belt. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune: the gas giants, large and slow to destroy; Saturn’s rings are the visual highlight. Europa and Ganymede (level 7): Jupiter’s moons, with solid, icy breakdown behaviour. Pluto: small and quick.
Alpha Centauri system
Adranos (level 3): a volcanic world. Persephone (level 4): a populated sci-fi planet. Machine World (level 4): a metal planet with a regenerating hexagonal shield and a core in the centre; three achievements depend on breaking that shield. Ringworld (level 5): a populated ring rather than a sphere, which changes how every weapon behaves. Perchta (level 6): a winter world. Starworld (level 6): a planet built around a star.
Tau system
All at level 3 unless noted. Hades: a dark, hellish world. Tatenen: desert. Avalon: a lush populated planet; the Orbital Ring variant arrives at level 4. Aphrodite: ocean world. Boreas: a frozen planet; melt all its ice with Healing Missiles for the Defrosted Boreas achievement and the “Boreas no ice” version people search for. Living Planet: a planet that is itself an organism.
TRAPPIST-1 system
Seven real exoplanets, modelled on the actual TRAPPIST-1 system, with TRAPPIST-1d and 1f given populations for the game. 1b, 1c, 1d unlock at level 2; 1e, 1f, 1g at level 3.
Secret planets
These appear in an unnamed fifth system and are earned through achievements only.
Snow Globe: throw Snowballs at Machine World’s exposed core. Waterworld: create an unedited Custom Planet, leave edit mode, and let a supernova destroy it. Block World: make Cube Earth with the Grid, hit it with a Healing Missile, reset. Ghost World: destroy Earth using only the Celestial. Pumpkin: Planet Killer on Earth, reset while it is orange. Snowman: freeze the entire Earth with the Freeze Ray. Gingerbread Man: Planet Killer on Snowman, reset while orange.
Custom planets
Custom Planet lets you paint terrain, set a population and save. Custom Image wraps a picture from your device around a sphere, which is where the “custom planet image” trick comes from: a portrait or a logo becomes a destructible world. Population entered here is what the Number of the Beast, Member of the Elite and Overpopulation achievements check.
Solar Smash 2D planets
The studio’s second game, Solar Smash 2D, has its own roster: Corbasca, Abyssal Edge, Sevus, Forge, The Gap, Ragnarok, Triplets, Aktas, Tiamat, Althea, Charon, plus its own Machine World, Hades and Crypt. They are not in the 3D game.
Why planets are “not unlocking”
The usual reasons: the level requirement is higher than it looks (Europa and Ganymede are level 7, not 3), the achievement was completed without the reset step, or you are on the browser version, which does not carry the mobile unlock system. On the app, check the achievements screen: a planet tied to an achievement shows the badge greyed out until it is earned.
Best planets for XP
Mercury and Pluto for speed bonuses; Earth for the population-based bonuses; any planet you have not destroyed yet for the first-time planet bonus. Rotating through the whole Sol system once is worth more than farming Earth ten times.
