Melon Sandbox, released in 2021 as Melon Playground and renamed later, is a 2D ragdoll physics sandbox: you drop "melons" (the stick-like characters), weapons, vehicles, explosives and machines onto a flat stage, wire them together and watch what happens. There is no objective, which is exactly why it has passed 100 million downloads on Google Play and holds a 4.5-star average from more than a million reviews. This page explains what the game is, where it can legitimately be played in a browser, and answers the questions people bring here. It does not embed the game: the browser version runs on the developer's own site, which we link to above.
Where to play Melon Sandbox
Browser: the official web version is on melonsandbox.com, run by the publisher. It is the same game as the app, loads in a minute or two, and works on desktop and mobile browsers. Android: free on Google Play (contains ads and in-app purchases, rated 12+). iPhone and iPad: free on the App Store (in-app purchases, rated 16+ there). PC: the browser version, or the Android app through Google Play Games on PC. There is no Steam release. Solar-Smash.io is not affiliated with the developer and does not host or modify the game.
What you actually do in it
Pick an item from the categories at the bottom (melons, melee, firearms, explosives, vehicles, machinery, decoration), tap to place it, drag to move it. Items interact through simple but convincing physics: a chain connects two objects, a wire carries a signal, a syringe changes a melon's properties, an explosive pushes everything within reach. The fun is in combinations: a car with a rocket strapped to it, a chain of dominoes made of barrels, a contraption that launches a melon across the stage. Slow motion and pause let you set scenes up carefully before releasing them.
Mods and "Melon Sandbox mods free"
Mods are a real feature: the game has an in-app mod browser where community-made items, skins and maps can be downloaded. That is where "melon sandbox mods" should come from. Websites offering modded APKs, "unlimited money" builds or "27.0 download" files are not the developer's and are the usual place people pick up malware; the official app is free, so there is nothing to gain from them.
"Melon Sandbox unblocked"
The official browser version needs no installation, which is what most people searching "unblocked" want. Whether it opens on a school or work network depends on that network's rules, and this site does not help bypass them. If the official site is blocked for you, the app on a personal phone is the alternative.
Is Melon Sandbox safe for kids?
The violence is stylised and pixelated (melons, not people), but it is violence: weapons, blood effects, explosions. Google Play rates it 12+ for moderate violence and Apple rates it 16+. Both app versions show ads and sell in-app purchases ("mels" currency and a premium membership). Parents should decide on that basis; our information for parents page covers the general questions.
Melon Sandbox versus Solar Smash
Both are destruction sandboxes with no goal, which is why they are searched together. Melon Sandbox is small-scale and mechanical: ragdolls, wiring, contraptions, one stage. Solar Smash is planetary: one planet, 34 weapons, no building. If you like building the machine more than watching the explosion, Melon Sandbox; if you like the explosion, Solar Smash. People Playground and the browser "playground" clones sit between the two.
