Solar Smash: Annihilation — Release Date, Platforms, Multiplayer and Everything Confirmed
Last updated: 8 September 2026. Sources: the official Solar Smash: Annihilation page on Steam (platforms, “coming soon” status, feature list), the developer’s devlog video (galaxy map, multiplayer, build and campaign modes) and the community wiki summary of Discord previews. Nothing on this page comes from the developer directly; when Paradyme announces a date or price, this page will be updated with a link to that announcement.
Solar Smash: Annihilation is the sequel to Solar Smash, made by the same studio, Paradyme Games. It is built for PC first and consoles later, and it is the answer to almost every “solar smash 2”, “solar smash pc” and “solar smash xbox” search. This page collects what has actually been confirmed by the developer through the Steam page, the devlog video and Discord previews, and separates it from speculation. It is updated as new information is released.
Release date
There is no release date. The Steam listing says “Coming soon”, and as of September 2026 the developer has not given a month or a year. Anyone quoting a date is guessing. The reliable way to be notified is to wishlist it on Steam; the studio has said Steam ships first and consoles follow.
Platforms
Confirmed: PC via Steam, with Windows and Linux listed. Announced but without detail: consoles, after the PC launch. Not announced: a mobile version. The original Solar Smash stays on Android and iOS; Annihilation is a separate, bigger game rather than an update to it.
Will Solar Smash: Annihilation be free?
The price has not been announced. The original is free with ads on mobile; a Steam release with Workshop support and multiplayer would normally be a paid game, but nothing has been confirmed either way.
What is new
Graphics. Planets are built from around one million voxels each, with planetary rings made of 150,000 particles that react to impacts, and higher-resolution textures and effects than a phone can run.
Regional population tracking. Instead of one global counter, the game reports the effect of each attack on the population of the region you hit, in real time.
Multiplayer. Two modes have been shown: co-op, where players destroy a system together, and versus. Previews show public lobbies, private lobbies and other players’ weapons landing in the same scene.
Steam Workshop. Mods and localisations can be downloaded from the Workshop. Custom planets and weapons are the expected use; a localisation pack has already been shown on the Workshop page.
Galaxy map. The planet menu is replaced by a map of the galaxy. You pick a star system, then a planet, and see its description and a difficulty rating. Screenshots show Sol with its eight planets and at least six other systems: Freya’s Cradle, Tallana, Xylos V, Cygni Maelstrom, HD 169864 and Verdanea. Their planets have not been revealed.
Controllable AI. You can direct AI ships where to go and when to fire; ships have their own health and shield bars.
Build mode and campaign. Both were mentioned in the devlog. Build mode, for shaping your own planet, is expected after launch rather than at launch. Campaign mode has only been named, with no details.
How it compares to the original
The original Solar Smash is a sandbox: pick a planet, pick a weapon, watch. Annihilation keeps that loop and adds the things a PC can carry: far more voxels, other players, mods and a structured way to explore systems. If you play the original in a browser on this site, expect Annihilation to feel like the same idea with the scale turned up, not a different genre.
Is Solar Smash still getting updates?
Yes. The mobile game continues to receive updates, and the community wiki tracks new weapons, planets and achievements as they arrive. The studio is working on both.
Where to follow news
The Steam page for Solar Smash: Annihilation, the Paradyme Games Discord, and the studio’s YouTube devlogs are the only first-hand sources. This page will be updated when any of them change.
Solar Smash: Annihilation FAQ
